Cosmonauts Dispersing the Rally

In these restless times different protests are going on in all parts of the world. I started this work in spring of 2020, just before the protests in the world became more intense, one of the reasons for which was COVID-19 pandemics. In addition to that, in the United States Black Lives Matter movement got more intense. In Russia as well, as economic and political crises are growing, the protest locations are emerging here and there around the country.

As for the title of the image, among Russians they call the special police forces who disperse the rallies the ‘cosmonauts’ (because of their look, resembling cosmonauts). Hence the idea of this drawing. If there is space, there should be space characters. And, as it often happens in my works, a mixture of mass culture characters appeared.
